A new dining spot called Taru has opened on Koh Samui, crafted by a charming Australian couple who have created a cozy restaurant with an inventive menu in a quaint little house. The menu offers a fresh take on Singaporean classics, such as the elegant Singaporean breakfast featuring soft-boiled eggs served in delicate holders alongside kaya jam, priced at 160 baht. Another highlight is the spicy Thai sai oua sausage sandwich, served on excellent bread for 280 baht.
The restaurant also features a unique island-inspired beef tartare with a hint of spice, presented alongside a roasted marrow bone resting on coarse salt, priced at 380 baht. Desserts are equally enticing, including a matcha-flavored San Sebastián cheesecake for 180 baht and a signature Taru juice blending beetroot, ginger, lemongrass, and beet syrup for 140 baht. The coffee selection impresses as well, with an unusual cold brew called Mont Blanc available for 170 baht.
Taru's kitchen and menu were developed with help from the Sarnies group, a Bangkok-based team with Singaporean roots, ensuring attentive service and quality. The venue offers its own parking and welcomes guests with dogs, accompanied by a pleasant playlist. Adjacent to the restaurant, renovations are underway for a jewelry shop where the owner creates her own pieces and plans to hold jewelry-making workshops on the second floor.
