Man in Chachoengsao Detained After Cannabis-Fueled Threats at Roadside Stalls

Police in Chachoengsao province responded to a tense situation early March 5, after a man reportedly high on cannabis threatened locals at roadside stalls while demanding cigarettes. The incident unfolded in the Bang Pakong district, where 38-year-old Prasert allegedly brandished a screwdriver and threatened to return with reinforcements when refused cigarettes at a shop, prompting staff to alert authorities

Upon arrival, officers found Prasert already restrained by a group of youths, his hands and feet tied after he had attempted to fight back. One of the youths explained that Prasert had been moving between stalls on his motorcycle, confronting teenagers for cigarettes. Fearing further violence, the group tracked him down with the help of friends and subdued him on Bang Wua Old Road

During questioning at the police station, Prasert admitted to being under the influence of cannabis when he left home searching for cigarettes. He told officers, "I wanted to warn youths that smoking was harmful and uphold justice," but claimed threats only followed after being refused cigarettes. Prasert also remarked, "My sacred tattoos can protect me from knives and guns, but not from being kicked," referencing the beating he received from the youths
