Starting from 1 September 2026, Thailand will allow travellers to carry up to 10 kilograms of fresh fruits free of charge in special sealed boxes provided at certain airports. These fruits must be fresh and dry; durian is excluded from this allowance. The boxes are issued at the airport, and fruits packed in regular suitcases are not permitted under this rule
This service will be available for exactly one year at a list of regional airports including Nan, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Loei, Udon Thani, and others primarily in northeastern and southern provinces. Notably, major tourist hubs such as Koh Samui, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, Phuket, and Chiang Mai are excluded from this programme
