Bangkok Art Biennale and TAT Partnership Boosts City’s Global Art Profile

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced a strategic partnership with the Bangkok Art Biennale, aiming to position Bangkok as a global destination for contemporary art and creative tourism. This collaboration links the Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 with 'The Spirits of Maritime Crossing 2026' exhibition in Venice, expanding Thailand’s reach to international audiences and enhancing its appeal to travelers seeking rich cultural experiences

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized the importance of culture and creativity in attracting quality visitors. "TAT’s support for Bangkok Art Biennale reflects our direction to position culture, creativity, and contemporary Thai identity as powerful drivers of quality tourism. Through this platform, we are creating new inspiration for travel, strengthening Bangkok’s global visibility, and reinforcing Amazing Thailand as a destination where creative energy, cultural depth, and meaningful visitor experiences come together," she stated

The Venice exhibition, curated by Professor Dr. Apinan Poshyananda, will run from 9 May to 2 August 2026 at Palazzo Rocca Contarini Corfù as part of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Featuring 20 artists from Southeast Asia, Ireland, Serbia, and other regions, the exhibition will explore themes such as identity, diaspora, and spiritual resilience through diverse media including performance, film, and installation. These new works, including a specially commissioned short film, reflect the realities of migration and global change

Following the Venice event, the Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 will unfold in Thailand from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 under the theme 'Angels and Mara.' The festival will showcase Thai and international artists across multiple venues, including Museum Siam, Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Wat Prayurawongsawat, One Bangkok, and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. This citywide route is designed to connect heritage sites with contemporary districts, providing both locals and visitors the opportunity to engage with art in diverse urban settings
