On July 12, Indian customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of suspected hydroponic cannabis hidden beneath a passenger seat on a flight arriving from Phuket. The discovery came during a detailed aircraft search initiated after the use of the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) profiling.
The passenger, traveling on Air India flight AI2377, admitted to concealing six sealed packages containing the cannabis under a seat in the cabin. The individual was arrested under India's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and investigations are ongoing. No prohibited items were found in the passenger’s luggage itself.
