Recently, Thai police arrested a Nigerian man and two Thai women involved in a major heroin distribution network linked to Nigerian romance scams. The group was caught with 65.5 kilograms of heroin worth around 200 million baht, smuggled from Laos into northeastern Thailand and stored in Bangkok before being distributed to popular tourist areas such as Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket. The drugs were cleverly packed in snack and pet feed packages to avoid detection.

The Nigerian suspect, known as Obi, and the two Thai women, Kanyarat and Somporn, were arrested in different locations across Bangkok and at the southern bus terminal. Somporn was intercepted while attempting to deliver heroin to dealers in Phuket, highlighting how the network operates across multiple provinces. Police revealed that the Nigerian gang, operating from abroad, lured Thai women through romance scams before hiring them to distribute drugs for 30,000 baht per delivery. Interestingly, the three arrested individuals did not know each other personally.
