International visitors arriving in Southern Thailand are now greeted with an 'Amazing Bag' filled with Thai-inspired souvenirs, as part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) latest initiative to revitalize tourism in the region. The campaign, dubbed 'Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges @ HAT YAI', kicked off on April 1, 2026, and targets key entry points including Hat Yai International Airport, Sadao Customs House, and Padang Besar Customs House
Led by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and senior officials, the launch saw travelers arriving by air and overland receive a warm welcome and a curated gift bag. 'Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges @ HAT YAI reflects TAT’s proactive approach to restoring momentum in Southern Thailand. By engaging visitors from the point of arrival, the campaign strengthens confidence, encourages local spending, and enhances the overall travel experience through meaningful and accessible privileges,' said Ms. Thapanee
The campaign builds upon the earlier Smile @ South initiative, introduced after the November 2025 floods, and aims to accelerate the tourism sector’s recovery. International tourists, particularly from Malaysia and Indonesia, have shown strong interest, benefiting from exclusive discounts at over 100 establishments and the chance to win prizes worth more than 500,000 Baht
From the OG Lab newsroom perspective, this initiative highlights Thailand’s commitment to delivering memorable first impressions and stimulating economic activity in the south. As tourism continues to rebound, programs like these can set a positive tone for visitors and support local businesses, making Southern Thailand an even more attractive destination for international travelers
