A 30-year-old Israeli citizen, Eden Alisa, was arrested at Koh Samui airport on June 10. He was among 45 suspects involved in a case concerning nominee companies on Koh Phangan. Authorities had issued 45 arrest warrants in May, and so far 27 people have been detained while 18 remain under investigation.
Alisa owned a share in the company Alisa Paradise through a Thai nominee and had illegally acquired a plot of land on Koh Phangan. He had left Thailand during a crackdown in May but returned via Koh Samui, where he was arrested. During his detention, he explained that he hired an accounting firm to handle the paperwork and intended the land for a private home.
